Somalia

Somalia is a country in conflict since the beginning of the 1990’s. President Barre was ousted by combined northern and southern clan-based forces, all of whom were backed and armed by Ethiopia. After this a civil unrest wrecked the country removing all institutions that governed Somalia. This conflict is still ongoing leading to huge security problem and challenges for the organizations working in the area.

Apart from these problems, Somalia is prone to floods and droughts. These frequently occurring disasters cause problems in the agricultural and other sectors and sometimes lead to more conflict.
