The Women and Child Care Organization (WOCCA), In partnership with Oxfam Novib (our lead partner) implements agriculture development support aiming at increasing agriculture crop production food security sector and provides recovery support for farmers, particularly women farmers in Shabelle Agriculture riverine areas in Middle Shabelle region.

The project interventions aimed at to address the underlying root causes of livelihood vulnerability, poverty and food in-security problems and development needs with a strong focus on women farmers, aiming at increasing food security by providing necessary farming inputs, training in improved farming skills & techniques and provision of agricultural extension services, rehabilitation of irrigation infrastructure and establishment of village irrigation committees to support improvement of farmer community production capacity. In addition to this, the project through different interventions, does also assist to reduce illiteracy of Girls/boys and women access to formal and informal education opportunities in rural communities, increase rural communities awareness raising on eradication of traditional FGM practice on girl Child Eradicate traditional FGM practice on girl Child, as well as their awareness on HIV/AIDs risk prevention among rural communities, Improve hygiene/ situation of community Farmers through awareness trainings and establishment of village Hygiene & sanitation committees and to train Farmer communities on NRM, Sustainable Land use, Environment Conservation practices – interventions. In addition to that, WOCCA also applied fulfilling integration of the project operational works with practicing gender policy, implementation of cost sharing policy in project interventions.
